The almost simultaneous failure of three major power substations of the Turkey was the cause of a serious accident in the power system, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz, said.
"This is not an incident that we see frequently. We know how it happened, but cannot say why. We are investigating whether the power outage was due to a technical failure or a cyber-attack," RIA Novosti cited the minister.
"The Turkish energy system is established in accordance with Western standards, but no one is immune to such accidents," Yildiz said.
