Two days ago, the Iraqi authorities published new data on oil reserves in the country, according to which Iraq was in third place among the states of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), bypassing Iran, and still lagging behind Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, Iran News reports referring to NEWSru.
According to this data, explored oil reserves in Iraq compared with the latest official report, compiled several years ago, have increased by 24% and number 143.1 billion barrels of oil, not including the territory of Kurdish autonomy. Another 33.5 billion barrels of oil under the existing technology are not subject to extraction.
However, the next day, Iran regained third place in the OPEC. According to Oil Minister Masoud Mir-Kazemi, Iran has shown that its oil reserves are not 138 as previously stated, but 150.3 billion barrels.
