EC proposes updating memorandum on Trans-Caspian gas pipeline to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan

Baku and Ashkhabad need to update the memorandum of understanding on laying the Trans-Caspian pipeline, Vice President of the European Commission for the Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič, said.

"Since 2011, the European Commission has a mandate to negotiate within the framework of a memorandum of understanding with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on construction of the Trans-Caspian pipeline. And now we propose that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan update this memorandum, we're waiting for an answer and we'll see how the negotiations will be conducted," Kommersant cited him as saying.
