The European Commission will grant Ukraine additional 70 million euros for the construction of a new sarcophagus for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, said the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, in Kiev, RIA Novosti reports.Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko vowed to complete the construction.The Shelter Object sarcophagus was built right after the accident. In the late 2007, the NOVARKA Consortium headed by French companies started developing an arc. The steel framework will contain a technological section and auxiliary structures. The completion of the construction was postponed from 2015 to November 2017.
