American company SpaceX has confirmed the successful deployment in orbit of the first Turkmen communications satellite, launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said.
The 4.5 ton satellite with an expected life of 15 years will be placed in the position of 52 degrees east longitude, at a distance of 35,786 kilometers from the Earth’s surface.
Turkmenistan currently rents satellite communications capacity from Russia's Yamal, TASS reports.
