May 1st is a holiday of spring and labor, which is celebrated in many countries and especially in Russia. Moscow traditionally will meet it with mass demonstrations and meetings in the city center.
In total, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 300 events will be held today at 50 sites, and the largest of them will hold parades of the trade unions and parliamentary parties.
According to the latest survey of Levada Center, 51% of Russians will celebrate the feast of spring and labor today, while 67% and 76% do not intend to participate in any demonstrations for or against the policy of the authorities. Only 22% are willing to stand under slogans supporting the authorities, and 14% – under slogans condemning it. 52% associate this day only with the holiday of spring and labor, while only 22% associate it with International Workers' Day. For 19% it's just an extra day off, and for 9% it is a normal weekday.
