Stavropol Territory harvested over 7 million tons of grain this year, despite the drought. This allows the region to export as much grain as last year, the Governor of Stavropol Territory, Valeriy Gayevskiy, said at a presentation at the Chamber of Trade and Industry in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.
The drought in 2010 led to the harvest decreasing by one third, with an emergency situation announced in 38 regions.
Stavropol Territory needs 2 million tons of grain for its consumers, 4.5 million tons are usually exported.
Gayevskiy added that agriculture in Stavropol Territory is in second position of most investment-attractive spheres, after real estate.
