The 21st WorldFood Azerbaijan Exhibition was opened in Baku today.
The Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Heydar Asadov, said at the opening ceremony that the stable supply of food products to the population and the improvement of agricultural products’ competitiveness are the main priorities for the agricultural sector today.
The Vice Prime Minister of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko, said that his country is interested in supplying its agricultural products to Azerbaijan. "Over the last 6 years Belarus has produced agricultural equipment worth $21 billion. $8 billion worth of the equipment is used domestically, while the rest of the production is intended for export," abc.az cited Semashko as saying.
According to him, Belarus is also ready to supply pesticides and biologies to Azerbaijan, which can be used for cleaning contaminated soils.
This year WorldFood Azerbaijan is attended by more than 250 companies from Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic and other countries. Australia, Argentina, Belarus and Lithuania are also participating in the exhibition with their national expositions organized under the state support and coordination of professional associations.
The Caspian International Exhibition 2015 named 'Packing, Tare, Labels and Printing' is also held within the WorldFood Azerbaijan 2015. The exhibition will be held until May 23.
