Azerbaijan plans to build new hydropower plant

Azerbaijan plans to build a hydropower plant Tovuz, APA reports, citing the president of Azerenergi, Etivab Pirverdiyev.
The plant is the most important project in the Azerbaijani energy sphere, he said.


The construction of the project North-2 is planned for the end of 2010. The costs of construction have declined from 450 to 360 million dollars, Pirverdiyev said.

He also noticed that the work at the station "Southern" in the town of Shirvan will be finished. This station has the most advanced technology and equipment.

At the moment the share of hydropower is 12-15% of Azerbaijani energy system.
