Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN have signed an agreement “On creating the office for coordination and cooperation and providing technical assistance” and FAO-Azerbaijan partner program in Baku today.
The documents were signed by the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Heydar Asadov, and FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva.
"Only 4-5 countries in the world have an FAO office. This is a great success for Azerbaijan," Asadov said, adding that the office is already working, and after 3-4 months will move to a new building. He said that Azerbaijan allocates $ 10 million of technical assistance for FAO projects.
The sides noted during the meeting that the main areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and FAO are to ensure animal health, plant protection, services to improve education and assistance in researches in the sphere of agriculture, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
