The governments of Russia and the Krasnodar region plan to develop a program on moving the inhabitants of Kuban from areas frequently subject to floods, the Minister for Regional Development, Viktor Basaragin, announced today at a meeting on coping with the results of the floods on the Black Sea coast, headed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, RIA-Novosti reports.
160,000 roubles will be paid to everyone suffered from the flood and 150,000 for the renovation of their homes, Vladimir Putin announced. He also noted that the first money will already appear in the region this Friday.
Vladimir Putin visited a school that suffered from the flood in the village of Novomihailovsky and met with the villagers. He also visited an apartment in the same village. The villagers thanked the premier for the help.
As earlier reported by Vestnik Kavkaz, on the night of the 16th of October mountain rivers flooded dozens of local communities. According to EMERCOM, 5,100 people suffered from the floods, 16 died.
