Moscow to hold international energy week

The 5th energy week "Moscow energy dialogue“ (MED-2010) will start in Moscow today.


The forum will see representatives of international energy organizations, national and foreign oil companies. The head of the IAEA, Yukiya Amano, will take part in the event.


The Russian Trade and Industry Chamber said that the main topic is expansion of international energy cooperation in the context of rising energy competition for resources and consumer market.


The chamber also said that the energy week will also have a round table for gas exporters forum, International Energy Agency and international gas conference. Russian Energy Ministry said that they plan a conference of BRIC energy ministers.


The forum will discuss world experience, improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of energy-intensive economy, technological modernization of the energy sector, implementation of innovative development in the largest energy companies.


Heads of international organizations, authorities, companies and leading science centers of Russia and foreign countries were invited to MED-2010.


Amano plans to have negotiations will Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov. Ministry spokesman Andrey Nesterenko said that the meeting will improve ties and cooperation. There are also meetings scheduled between Rosatom and the Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision.
