Azerbaijan and Georgia will open a unified control post, the manager
of the Azerbaijani project for the support of systems of integrated
border control, Mazakhir Efendiyev, said, Trend reports.
The project is being realized with the financial support of the EU and
an UN development program, together with the Azerbaijani government.
The work started in September.
The main goals are improvement of cooperation between national
structures in the border management sphere, expansion of bilateral and
regional cooperation with neighbouring countries, EU members and other
international organizations, border security, document improvement.
The project is worth 6.3 million euro and will be completed before 2012.
