According to information on October 1, 98.8% or 1,126,625 people in
Azerbaijan receive their pensions via plastic cards, the State Fund of
Social Protection said, Trend reports.
The number increased by 7,803 in the first nine months of 2010. They
are all countryside dwellers. 97.6% of village pensioners get their
pensions using plastic cards.
Azerbaijan plans to continue improving the process of pension payments
issued within the framework of the state program for developing the
pension-insurance system. The program includes expansion of the
network of cash machines and POS-terminals, use of multifunctional
cards with chips, automization of pension payments in mountain
villages and studies of foreign experience.
