Southern Customs Department records growth in foreign trade

Foreign trade turnover of the subjects of the South and North Caucasus
districts in January-September of this year amounted to about $20
billion, which is 31% more than in the same period last year, the head
of the Southern Customs administration Alexander Getman said, RIA
Novosti
reports.

"The overall growth in foreign trade is caused by the release of the
Russian Federation from the global economic crisis - there is are
positive dynamics in the recovery of trade between the countries," -
he said.

According to him, at present the pre-crisis figures have not yet been
reached. However, given the emerging trends, it might become possible
in the next year.

A ban on exports of wheat, barley, rye, corn and flour was introduced
for the period from August 15 to December 31 in 2010, due to
expectations of low yields caused by the drought. Last Friday, federal
authorities announced the extension of the moratorium on the export of
grain to July 1, 2011.
