The deputy foreign minister of Russia, Sergey Ryabkov, and his
Azerbaijani counterpart, Khalaf Khalafov, have discussed in Moscow the
situation around the draft of the multilateral agreement on security
cooperation in the Caspian Sea, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported
today.
In September 2008 Azerbaijan offered a draft security agreement to the
Caspian states. All parties made preliminary comments on the document
and confirmed their willingness to attend the meeting.
The draft agreement on security in the Caspian Sea deals with
multilateral cooperation in various areas such as border forces,
anti-drug departments, emergency services, interior ministries, port
authorities, transport and security of oil infrastructure.
