Kazakhstan increases oil supplies to Europe

Kazakhstan intends to increase oil supplies to Europe, Kazakh
President Nursultan Nazarbayev said after a meeting with acting
Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme, whose country holds the EU
presidency, Trend reports, referring to Kazinform.

"We are a young, independent state that has a short history. In
Europe, unfortunately, despite the fact that we are taking all
necessary measures, very few people even know of Kazakhstan. However,
in the short time since the collapse of the Soviet Union, when in
1993-1994 we had a non-working economy and an inflation rate of 2,500
per cent a year, over the past 13 years Kazakhstan has lifted the
economy from $400 per capita, to $8,500 dollars per capita. Can you
imagine what kind of work was done for this?" Nazarbaev said.

The Kazakh President stressed that the success of the country meant
that 80% of the investments attracted to the six states of Central
Asia were sent to Kazakhstan.
