Putin lays out priorities for Russia's oil industry

Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin has spelled out the priorities for development of Russia's oil industry, RIA Novosti reports. Speaking in Samara, he pointed to the formation of a unified gas transit system in the near future, diversifying supplies to the internal and external markets. Amongst infrastructure projects worth realising he highlighted completion of the Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean oil pipeline and a second stage of the Baltic pipeline.

Putin mentioned that Transneft shouldn’t limit itself to large-scale projects and that modernisation of existing systems should be carried out and infrastructure developed by oil companies, connecting both oil fields and refineries, as well as reducing delays in transporting oil using new technologies.
