The state unitary enterprise ‘Rosmorport’ is preparing to build a roll-on roll-off loading district in the port of Kavkaz in Krasnodar Territory by 2013.
A terminal with an annual capacity of 2 million tons is planned to be built. Two berths with a combined length of 420 metres built to accommodate vessels with a draft of up to 6.8 metres will be located at the terminal, which is hoped to be operating by the end of 2011, Interfax reports. A transport-logistical centre is proposed for loading, storing, initial treatment and customs clearance of loads, with a rail link and highly-accessible road transport.
The project is looking for almost 3.3 billion roubles of investment on a state-private partnership basis and is looking to attract 60% of the roll-on roll-off traffic from the other Russian Black Sea ports.
