The head of North Ossetia Taymuraz Mamsurov ordered the government to built modern swimming pools in every region of North Ossetia by 2015, RIA Novosti reports.
There will be swimming pools opened in six centers - Alagir, Ardon, Digore, Mozdok, Elkhotovo, Chikol and two more in Vladikavkaz, the head of Mamsurov's administration Serhey Takoyev said.
The project will be co-financed by the federal purpose program 'Development of physical education and sports in Russia for 2006-2015'.
The authorities plan to construct sport complexes in all centers and new tennis courts and a horse ground in Vladikavkaz. Realization of the program will allow tens of thousands of North Ossetians to engage in sports.
One of the first decisions signed by Mamsurov after becoming the head of North Ossetia in 2005 is the decree on 'Development of physical education and mass sports', which includes construction of new sports centers, sections and providing equipment.
Alagir is currently constructing a sport complex with an all-purpose playing hall.
