The EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger is arriving to Baku 15th April on a 1-day visit. He will meet President Ilkham Aliyev, the Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev, head of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elmar Mamedyarov, head of SOCAR and foreign oil companies in Azerbaijan, TURAN reports, citing a message from EU mission in Baku.
The primary issue of the meeting is energy security of EU and construction of pipelines.
“Azerbaijan and EU have strong energy relations. I will discuss issues concerning development of energy relations within the programme of “Eastern Partnership”. Making progress in realizing the south corridor will be our primary issue on the business of day”, - Oettinger said on the day before the visit to Baku.
This is Oettinger’s second visit to Azerbaijan. He visited Baku before in 2009, as a Premier of Baden Wurttemberg Land of Germany.
