This year the length of the Iranian pipeline system will increase by
1957 kilometers, said the Director General of the Iranian National Gas
Company (NIGEC), Jawad Ogie, Trend reports.
"At the end of last year, the length of the Iranian pipelines came to
32,055 kilometers, and at the end of June this year the figure rose to
32,506 kilometers. Due to the fact that the winter this year is
expected to be cold, we intend to fully develop the operational and
peripheral parts of the National Gas Company to achieve stability of
gas supply, " Ogie said.
According to BP, Iranian gas reserves amounted to 29.61 trillion cubic
meters in 2009. Last year, Iran consumed 131.2 billion cubic meters of
gas, 13.1% higher than in 2008.
