Armenian strategic gas reserves reach 140 million cubic meters

The strategic amount of natural gas reserves in the Abovyan
underground gas storage station (UGSS) in Armenia amounts to 140
million cubic meters of gas at the present moment, according to the
Advisor to the Director General of ArmRosGazprom, Roland Adonts, News
Armenia reports.

The ArmRosgazprom company has a monopoly on the supply and
distribution of Russian natural gas on the Armenian market. On Tuesday
it announced the completion of preparations for the operation of new
wells and an underground storage tank of natural gas at the Abovyan
UGSS. The tank is capable of holding 19-20 million cubic meters of
gas.

"We are working on the construction of two more wells, which will be
commissioned in around 2014-2015, after which the natural gas storage
reserves can be brought up to 170 million cubic meters," Adonts
announced on Tuesday.

According to Adonts, the volume of the Abovyan gas tank will reach 200
million cubic meters in nine years.

The ArmRosgazprom Company was established in 1997, its shareholders
are Gazprom and the Armenian government.
