Iran to exchange nuclear fuel only in accordance with Tehran Declaration

Iran supports the exchange of nuclear fuel only under the terms of the
Tehran Declaration, said a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry,
Ramin Mehmanparast, Trend reports, referring to the Mehr agency.

Brazil, Iran and Turkey signed an agreement on exchange of uranium on
the 17th of May. The foreign ministers of the three countries signed a
draft agreement on the exchange of Iranian low-enriched uranium (3.5
%) for 20%-enriched uranium fuel for the Tehran Research Nuclear
reactor. According to the Tehran Declaration, this exchange should
take place in Turkey.

Last week, the New York Times newspaper informed its readership that
the 5+1 countries had complicated the conditions for the exchange of
the uranium fuel and decided to receive more uranium from Iran than
previously agreed.

According to the Tehran Declaration, Iran was to convey 1200 kg of
3.5%-enriched uranium, and to receive in return 120 kg of the
20%-enriched uranium fuel. At the moment, Iran has more than 2800
kilograms of low-enriched uranium.
