The Caspian countries are discussing a project of cooperation in the
sphere of security in the Caspian Sea, Trend reports.
A session of deputy ministers of foreign affairs of the five Caspian
countries has begun in Baku.
Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Halaf Halafov said that
they plan to resolve the remaining issues.
The countries signed a convention for protection of the Caspian Sea in
November 2003.
In July 1998 Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement determining the
northern border of the Caspian Sea, in May 2002 they signed a protocol
to the agreement.
On November 29, 2001 and February 27, 2003, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan
signed an agreement and a protocol determining the borders.
Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement May 14, 2003,
for the joint point of the border lines of separate sections of the
Caspian Sea.
The summit of Caspian countries will be held on November 18 in Baku.
