Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has taken part in the founding
ceremony of a new international seaport complex in Baku on the
territory of the Alyat village, AzerTag reports.
The Minister of Transport Ziya Mamedov said that the seaport project
was prepared by a Dutch company Royal Haskoning, the winner of a
tender. The port is currently working on building cranes, machines and
mechanisms for projects of modern navigation and communication
systems. The port complex will cover 400 hectares.
The construction will be held in three stages:
- transshipment of the port complex to up to 10 million tons of cargo
and containers - 40 000 TEU;
- transshipment of up to 17 million tons of cargo and containers - 150 000 TEU;
- transshipment of up to 25 million tons of cargo and containers - 1
million TEU.
The first stage will be completed in 3.5 years. The port complex will
also have an international transport-logistical center.
