The director of the planning and development department of the Iranian petrochemical company, Ramazan Ouladi, has stated at a conference in Beijing that by the end of the 5-year development plan (2010 - 2015) petrochemical production will reach 100 million tons a year, IranNews reports, citing IRHA.
At the moment Iran produces 51 million tons a year.
Ouladi said that Iran's petrochemical industry is very attractive to investors, as Iran has good access to the raw materials needed for this industry, as well as possessing lots of natural gas resources.
Iran has 11% of the raw oil and 16% of the world's natural gas resources.
