The construction of a new seaside promenade will begin in January in the Central District of Sochi on the "Mayak" beach. The Krasnodar Region budget and the federal budget will allocate 6.5 billion rubles for the project, Interfax reports.
A contest for the right of construction, is being held at the moment. The project itself has passed all the necessary approvals.
The new promenade will consist of the beach, fitness and wellness centers as well as catering and entertainment facilities.
The first part of the promenade will be completed in late 2013. The construction of the second part will begin only after the Olympic Games of 2014.
