The construction of a hydroelectric plant in Georgia could attract $5
billion in investment, Georgian President Mikhael Saakashvili said at
a meeting with students and faculty at the Open University today,
Trend reports.
According to him, construction of a 600-megawatt hydroelectric power
station will begin next year in Svanetii and will be financed by
$600-800 million.
He also noted that, the share of agriculture in Georgia's GDP is only
11-12 percent at present, a figure that Saakashvili expects to double
in the next five years.
