Iran plans to increase energy prices

Iran plans to increase energy prices in December due to structural
reforms in the economy and correction of energy carrier prices,
Iranian Minister of Energy Majid Namju said, Trend reports, citing
Fars.


Gas and electricity prices in agriculture will rise severalfold,
Iranian deputy minister of agriculture for planning and economy
Mohammad Ali Nikbakht said.


Current electricity prices for the civilian population are $0.0158 per
kilowatt/h, industry - $0.0197, agriculture - $0.002. The average
global price for 1 kilowatt/h is $0.12. Subsidized prices for fuel
cost $0.0794 for Iran.


Iran produces 41,000 megawatts and consumes 41,600 megawatts.
Iran produces 600 million cubic meters of natural gas daily. The price
for one cubic meter for the civilian population is $0.0095,
agriculture - $0.0151, educational institutions - $0.0086, bakers -
$0.046, oil refineries and oil chemistry factories - $0.0151 and power
plants - $0.0047.
