Armenian wine is in demand only in foreign national diaspora

Armenian wine is still uncompetitive on the international market, the
chairman of the Union of Armenian Winemakers, Avag Arutyunyan said,
News-Armenia reports.

"First of all, the reason is that we do not have good professionals in
the field of winemaking. However, if so desired this issue could be
solved within three to four years. Secondly, we do not have modern
technical equipment. The equipment we have in Armenia is more than 30
years old," the head of the Union said.

According to him, one of the major problems regards grape varieties,
because quality wines well-respected throughout the world are made
from certain varieties of grapes.

He noted that the Diaspora consists of one million households
consuming wine, and even if each family decides to buy one bottle of
wine annually, there will not be enough resources to meet the demand.
