Russia, India and China recognize the right of Iran to use nuclear
energy for peaceful purposes, yet Tehran must convince the world
community of the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, a statement
by the ministers of foreign affairs of Russia, India and China (Sergey
Lavrov, Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna and Yang Jiechi) says.
The ministers said that there is no alternative to the peaceful
settlement of the issue of the Iranian nuclear program, RIA Novosti
reports.
They also called for stability and peace in the Korean Peninsula and a
return to the dialogue.
Another topic of discussions was Afghanistan. The ministers expressed
concern with the rising security problems in the region. They also
believe that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization can be a good
platform for regional cooperation on Iran.
