US finances the construction of a pipeline between Poti and Senaki

The Poti-Senaki gas pipeline, which will supply natural gas to the free industrial zone of Poti, is being constructed in western Georgia. According to the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, on November 17 the U.S.Ambassador to Georgia John Bass and Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri will examine work on the pipeline, Business Georgia reports.
The U.S. has allocated $115 million for the construction of the pipeline in the framework of the 30-month U.S. project to develop theeconomy of Georgia, with a total budget of one billion dollars.

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia said that the goal of the pipeline construction is to ensure the availability of electricity and gas for the population of western Georgia, provide new jobs, and to develop the free industrial zone of Poti.
