Georgia switches to national numeration system

Georgia will switch the electronic communication networks to the national numeration system, Irakliy Kashiadze, head of the Department for Communication, Information Technologies and Innovations of the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Stable Development, said, Business Georgia reports.

The process will be completed in December 2011.

The national numeration system will change the codes of Georgian cities. The telephone network of Tbilisi will have a seven-digit system by adding an additional digit. The same process will be seen in other cities, where an additional digit will form six-digit systems. Two-digit codes of the mobile networks will have ‘5’ added (for example, ‘Magti’ – instead of 899 will have 599, ‘Geocell – instead of 877 will have 577).

Special services in Georgia will have a single three-digit code.

The inquiry office will have a number -110, fire service – 111, European number of emergency aid – 112, ambulance – 113, emergency gas service – 114, patrol police – 122, security police – 125.
Prefix of inter-city calls will change as well. Inter-city prefix ‘8’ will be replaced with ‘0’, international prefix will be ‘00’.
