The Telemarathon-2010 held by the All-Armenian fund ‘Ayastan’ has
started broadcasting from Los Angeles. This year the annual event,
with tens of thousands Armenians from various countries participating,
is held under the slogan ‘Water is life’, News Armenia reports.
The donations will be spent on financing the water systems in
Nagorno-Karabakh and assistance in developing villages in Armenia.
France collected approximately 1.3 million euros in donations from
France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Greece.
Ayastan has collected over $8,300 since SMS voting started on October
1, with approximately 6,000 people taking part in the voting.
The annual Ayastan telemarathon started in 1998. Last year
‘Telemarathon 2009’ collected $15.8 million, but the record was set in
2008, when the sum reached $35 million.
