The first contracts on Nabucco are planned to be signed in 2011. Spokesman of the consortium Christian Dolesal said in an interview with Reuters that the shareholders of Nabucco are having consults, the first agreements are expected in mid 2011, most likely with Azerbaijan.
RWE A.G. (Germany), OMV Gas GmbH (Austria), MOL Natural Gas Transmission Company Ltd. (Hungary), S.N.T.G.N. Transgaz S.A. (Romania), BEH (Bulgaria) and BOTAS (Turkey) are the shareholders taking part in the talks. Nabucco is planned to carry 8 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and 10 billion cubic meters from Iraq.
Dolesal said that the consortium has all the contacts with the future purchasers, which allows it to make final investment decisions in late 2011.
Nabucco will transport Caspian natural gas to the Central Europe through Turkey and the Balkans. Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH consortium was established. Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Ltd. Consists of 6 companies: OMV (Austria), MOL (Hungary), Transgaz (Romania), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), BOTAS (Turkey), RWE Gas Midstream (Germany). Each company has 16.67% share. One third of the expenses are financed by the shareholders, the rest – by financial and credit organizations. Nabucco will be 3300 km long with an annual capacity of 31 billion cubic meters.
