Azerbaijan is postponing works at "Shahdeniz-2" until 2017, Reuters
reports. The reasons for the delay are disagreements with Turkey over gas prices
and the absence of any decision on construction of the "Nabucco" pipeline.
Azerbaijan and Turkey have been holding long-running negotiations on the problems
of gas prices, and the price and volumes of gas transportation to Europe and Turkey. Vitaliy Beglyarbekov, the vice
president of the state oil company of Azerbaijan, said that the terms for the start of the project had been moved three times.
The European Union considers Azerbaijan to be the first candidate to
provide Nabucco with gas. The second candidate is Turkmenistan, said Günther Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Energy.
would be made in half a year. He also expressed concern that the
opening of Nabucco might be delayed until 2018.
