The director of the Western Regional Energy Company of Iran, Abdolaziz Karimi, said that the Ministry of Energy of Iran is planning toconnect the electric power network with Syria through Iraq, Iran News reports, citing IRNA.
Karimi noted that most of Iran's electricity exports goes through the western electrical grid of the country. This is due to the fact that the province of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Ilam and have a long border with Iraq. According to Karimi, the volume of
electricity supply to Iraq depends on the conditions in Iran in terms of congestion of the electricity network. Usually, throughout a year, except for the summer months, Iran has a surplus of electricity, which is sold abroad.
