Syria and Ukraine sign agreements

Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych and Syrian President Bashar
al-Assad have signed a set of bilateral deals.


According to Ukrinform, citing the press-service of Yanukovych, they
signed a consulate convention to improve the consulate work of the two
countries, to improve efficiency in protecting human rights and the
interests and legal bodies of both countries.


An agreement on cooperation between the national information agency of
Ukraine, Ukrinform, and the Syrian Arabic News Agency (SANA) involves
exchange of information between the agencies.


The Ukrainian and Syrian Agriculture Ministries signed an agreement on
cooperation in the spheres of quarantine and plant protection. The
document involves establishment of legal conditions for cooperation in
preventing quarantined imports and the spread of regulated hazardous
organisms.


The sides also signed a protocol on developing relations between the
Ilyichevskiy Sea Trade Port and the trading port of Tartus.


They signed a memorandum on cooperation between the state agency of
Ukraine for investment and development and the Syrian investment
agency to promote investment in both countries.


The delegations signed an executive programme for the protocol on
science and technical cooperation in geology and mineral resources
between the Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and the Syrian Ministry of
Mineral Resources.
