Russia to limit use of Tu-154 planes

The Russian aviation authority plans to forbid or freeze the use of of
the Tu-154 after incidents in Izhma and Domodedovo, RIA Novosti
reports, citing a spokesman of the organization.


A Tu-154 of the Dagestan Airlines company flying from Moscow to
Makhachkala made an emergency landing, went off the runway and broke
apart on December 4. Two people died and tens were injured. The
previous problems with Tu-154 had no victims. An plane of ALROSA made
an emergency landing at the airport of Izhma (Komi) after its radio
communication and navigation equipment died, as well as the
electricity system. The Tu-154 landed after two attempts, moving 200
meters off the runway.
