A summit of the heads of the member states of the Economic Cooperation
Organization (ECO) will be held on December 23rd in Istanbul, Trend
reports, referring to the news agency Asia-Plus.
The last ECO summit was held in March 2009 in Tehran.
The ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization formed by Iran,
Pakistan and Turkey in 1985 and is the successor of the Organization
for Regional Cooperation for Development. Other members of the
organization are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
