The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has
expressed interest in purchasing the cross-country "North-South" gas
pipeline (from Russia to Armenia). The Georgian government has not
determined its position on the issue, Georgian Deputy Minister of
Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze said, Trend reports.
The President of SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev, has made an official
request to purchase the pipeline section.
The gas pipeline may be used to speed up realization of the
Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI) project, involving
supplies of Azerbaijani liquified gas through Georgia and the Black
Sea to Romania.
