Middle East providers to lay fibre-optic line through Turkey

Seven companies from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan,
Syria and Turkey will build fibre-optic lines through the territory of
Turkey, TRT reports.


The line will cover all the region of the Persian Gulf and will be
3,875 kilometres long.


The cables will start in the United Arab Emirates and will reach
Europe through Turkey.


The line will have traffic of 12.8 terbits per second. It will allow
approximately 2 billion people to use high-speed Internet services.


Turkish Minister of Transport Binali Yildirim said that the project
will be an important step for regional cooperation.
