Iran takes sixth position for citrus production

The head of the Fadzhre Sari plant, Farhad Farhadi, claimed that Iran
produces 4 million tons of citrus fruits annually and holds sixth
place in the world for their production, Iran.ru reports, citing IRNA.


The world produces approximately 100 million tons of citrus fruits
annually and over 3.5 million hectares of land is used for growing
them. Iran uses 250,000 hectares.


Farhad Farhadi said that a large greenhouse complex with advanced
equipment had been built in Mazenderan, covering 3 hectares and
growing up to 350,000 plantlets of citrus cultures. The work is
carried out with the assistance of the Agricultural Institute of
Mazenderan. The fruits grown there have no viruses or diseases.


Farhad Farhadi says that his plant processes approximately 10,000 tons
of citrus fruits annually.
