The foreign investment council has banned the Swedish-Turkish company Turkcell from selling its share of the Russian mobile network operator Megafon to a foreign company, which was to be founded with the participation of the Russian company Altimo, RIA Novosti reports.
TeliaSonera and Altimo agreed to join their Megafon shares (Altimo 25.1%, TeliaSonera 43.8%) and Turkcell shares (Altimo 4.99%, TeliaSonera 37%) into a new company.
The foreign investment council reacted negatively to this deal. The head of the council, Igor Artemyev, emphasized that offshore schemes are not a reasonable course for Megafon's future
