The Governor of Gilyan Province Ruhollah Kakhremani Chabok announced
construction of a 1,000km highway along the coast of the Caspian Sea
to connect Astara with Gorgan, Iran News reports.
The governor said that the construction will preserve the environment
and prevent forest cutting and landscape damage in the northern
provinces. The road will go 150km away from the coast.
Chabok emphasized that construction of the highway is one of the
largest projects in the country, in terms of municipal improvement.
The project includes construction of hotels, swimming pools and aqua
parks, sports complexes, artificial water storages for fishing.
The Resht-Sari railway will go along the highway. The will be dockyards as well.
Chabok says that the highway will improve tourism and economy in the
northern and neighbor provinces. New workplaces will open.
The governor said that the government pays special attention to
development of transport system and construction of communication
lines. Launching of the Resht-Kazvin highway, construction of the
Kazvin-Resht-Enzeli railway and Astara, construction of the two-level
bridges and road interchanges, repair and modernization of roads,
coating of country roads with asphalt are a demonstration of the
special attention.
