Ukraine’s Naftogaz to become minority shareholder within joint venture with Gazprom

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin confirmed that uniting of gas monopolists of Russia and Ukraine’s Naftogaz wwill be a minority shareholder, RIA Novosti reports.


Putin announced the idea of uniting Gazprom and Naftogaz in April this year. The head of the Russian holding Alexey Miller said that the companies should unite by establishing a joint venture. Russia may provide the energy sources and Ukraine – gas transport system.


Gazprom and Naftogaz agreed to start rating assents needed for the joint venture in late November. One of the Russian deposits are the fields in Astrakhan and Yamal Peninsula
