The final charge against Mikhail Gutseriyev, the founder and owner of
the Russneft oil company, has been withdrawn, a spokesperson for
Russia’s Investigation Committee told RIA Novosti.
The development comes after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed
on April 7 amendments to a number of legislative acts enhancing the
legal protection of people involved in entrepreneurial activity.
The amendments scrap a clause on the violation of license terms from
the articles on illegal entrepreneurship and illegal banking.
Gutseriyev resigned as RussNeft president and left Russia in 2007.
