Iran invites foreign officials to visit nuclear plant

Members of the Non-Aligned Movement, Group-77 (G-77) of the Arab
Union, ambassadors of Syria and Venezuela will visit two uranium
enrichment plants in Natanza, heavy water production facility and a
heavy water nuclear research reactor in Araks on January 15, the
Iranian representative to IAEA Ali Asgar Soltaniye said, Trend cites
ISNA.

He added that they expect responses from others.

Soltaniye said earlier that IAEA inspectors may visit the facilities.

Delegates from Russia, China and the European Union were invited.

The invitation document said that January 15, 16 are the optimal dates
for the visit. It was emphasized that the visit needs to be held prior
to the talks between the six mediators (UK, China, Russia, USA, France
and Germany) and Iran in Istanbul on January 21-22. China is the only
country to have accepted the invitation, RIA Novosti reports.

Soltaniye reminded that a similar visit was organized in 2006 at the
conversion plant 'UCF' in Esfahan for ambassadors accredited in
Vienne.

Soltaniye added that foreign ambassadors in Iran will meet
high-ranking officials of Iran on January 15-16.

The facilities in Natanza and Araks are part of the nuclear complex of
Iran. There are two uranium enrichment plants in Natanza, 'FEP' and
'PFEP'. The main work is held at the FEP plant. The Director General
of IAEA Yukiya Amano said in his report that the plant has sections A
and B. Section A has 8 complexes consisting of 18 centrifuge cascades
- complexes A21-A28. There is no information on section B.
