Armenia will continue to rely on foreign support in 2010 - UN

The world GDP after reducing by 2% in 2009 will rise by 3% this year
and by 3.1% in 2011. According to the new UN report on the world
economic state and prospects for 2010, the revival of the world
economy will be unstable and rapid and will not lead to the recovery
of the employment market.
The head of UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Robert Vos,
noted that current forecasts on the world economic development are
better than six months ago. However, the unemployment level is still
rising around the world.
Vos also said that the financial situation in Greece, Portugal, Spain
and Ireland is worsening. He emphasized that the crisis in Greece had
led to serious threats throughout Europe.
The author of the report also said that CIS countries had a GDP rise
of 4.2% in 2010. The economic development of Eastern European and
Central Asian region has been halted due to low consumer demand and
poor foreign investment inflow. Resource-rich countries will use high
oil prices, while resource-poor countries like Belarus, Armenia,
Kazakhstan and Ukraine will continue to depend on external support,
stabilization credits from the IMF and financing from EU,
